LEARNING OUTCOMES
The aim of this module is to familiarize students with the basic principles of Tourism Economic in a macroeconomic as well as microeconomic level. In order to achieve this aim, theories and concepts derived from economics are adopted.
Upon completion of the module, students will be able to understand:
- the economic impact of tourism;
- tourism demand and tourism supply: theory and practice;
- crisis management issues in the tourism and hospitality industry;
- the importance of performance measurement;
- the impacts, opportunities and constraints arising from tourism for local economies;
- the importance of foreign direct investment, destination attractiveness and tourism benefits;
- the nexus between economics, agritourism and heritage.
